The river Salantas (tributary of the Minija, Kretinga district)

The river Salantas flows in Plunge and Kretinga districts, the river Minija right tributary.

Length of the river 43 km, the basin area 275 km ². The source at Plateliai town, 13 km north from Salantai town. In upper section flows to northwest, at the mouth of the brook Note turns to southwest. Flows into the river Minija 99 km from its mouth at Kulupenai village. Average gradient 296 cm/km. Average rated discharge upstream the mouth of the brook Note 0.70 m³/s, downstream the mouth of the brook Bubinas 1.51 m³/s, at the mouth 3.36 m³/s.

15.8 right Pestupis. right Pesciai. Average gradient to the mouth 100 cm/km. Approaching the mouth the gradient gradually decreases. The riverbed width 7-12 m. The valley narrow, slopes steep. Rare small rapids, shalows, can be a few strainers. Average rated discharge approx 1.6 m³/s.
